3 Spooky Super Natural Plants

Updated: Apr 29, 2020

In honor of October and Halloween why not share some of the scariest plants from around the world. Proving that scary things aren't just supernatural...some are super natural.

1. Bleeding Tooth Fungus (Hydnellum Peckii)

This fungus is wide spread in North American (yep, even North Carolina) and Europe. It has red fluid that oozes from the pores on the top of the cap and "teeth" that cover the underside.

2. Corpse Flower (Amorphophallus titanum)

This plant is one of the worlds largest (and smelliest) flowering plants. The strong smell (and reason for the name) helps this plant attract carnivorous insects which pollinate it and ensures its survival.

3. Devils Snare (Datura stramonium)

This plant is an aggressive invasive weed. This plant makes animals and humans who ingest it extremely sick or dead. The plant is a relative of Scopolamine also known as the "Zombie Drug" and both are sometimes misused as a way to get "high".
